In-Licensing—Nanogen is committed to offering a broad menu of diagnostic tests to our customers. We have established relationships with universities and industry partners to access proprietary markers necessary for development of tests for genotyping, gene expression, pathogen detection, and monitoring protein biomarkers for point-of-care testing. Out-Licensing—A key element of Nanogen’s business strategy is providing non-exclusive access to its innovative technologies to industry partners. The advantages provided by our proprietary MGB™ technologies have been recognized by Applied Biosystems, Qiagen, deCode Genetics, Cepheid, Third Wave Technologies, and others. End-User License Program— Our MGB technology is the best method for real-time PCR applications and is available directly from Nanogen in our MGB Eclipse line of reagents, as well as through ABI’s Taqman^® MGB and Qiagen’s Quantitect products. Until recently, MGB technology was licensed for sale to research markets and had limited availability for clinical diagnostics. In response to customer demand, we have created a program to enable laboratories to use products incorporating MGB technologies for clinical diagnostic tests. These agreements will enable any CLIA-certified laboratory to use Taqman MGB and Quantitect reagents to develop gene-based tests for diagnostic applications.
