Cardiovascular Diseases

Cardiovascular diseases rank among the leading causes of death and it is expected that the economic impact of these diseases on our healthcare system will continue to grow with the aging worldwide population. Nanogen is working in multiple ways to advance the medical community’s ability to diagnose and help treat cardiovascular disease.  Through our investment in and research collaboration with Jurilab, Ltd.  in Finland we are investigating genetic markers associated with AMI (Acute Myocardial Infarction), hypertension and type 2 diabetes.

In addition to our research activities we offer real-time PCR and electronic microarray reagents that detect molecular targets related to cardiovascular risk.

Our Point-of-Care Diagnostics Division has developed a rapid quantitative test for NT-proBNP as an aid in diagnosis of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF).  This product has been cleared by FDA in the United States and is CE marked for sale in the European Union.
