8 Royal Brides to Inspire Your Wedding Hair

There really is nothing better for a bit of lavish luxury than a royal wedding - and we’re sure Harry and Meghan’s big day will not disappoint! And while most of the world will be focused on that all-important dress, we can’t wait to see what Megan will do with her beautiful brunette locks.

To celebrate, we’ve taken a look back at some of the best royal weddings across the world, for some bridal hair inspo of the regal variety.

Prince William and Kate Middleton

No, we’re not over it! Kate looked incredible in her McQueen gown with that perfectly tousled, gently pulled back hair as she wed Prince William. A perfect blend of royal tradition and modern elegance, she really nailed the whole ‘joining the royal family’ vibe.

Prince Carl and Sofia Hellqvist

It may have flown under your radar, but we absolutely loved Sofia Hellqvist’s low chignon when she bagged herself the Prince of Sweden late last year. The former model opted for regal shine and sophistication with her classic bridal hairstyle. All topped off with a jewel-encrusted tiara, of course.

King Abdullah II and Queen Rania

Another beauty marrying into the royal family was Rania al-Faisal Yasin back in 1993 when she wed King Abdullah II of Jordan. She went for a high and tight bun with tonne of shine, (not to mention hairspray!) which perfectly showcased her dark features for her big day.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles

Who could forget the royal bonanza that was the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana? Lady Di wore her trademark flicked-back hair, which framed her face and served as a perfect balance to her huge veil... and all those ruffles!

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Jetsun Pema

Not every royal wedding needs a big white dress! When the King of Bhutan married Jetsun Pema in 2011 it was a traditionally colourful affair, with Jetsun embracing her thick, long locks by simply letting them fall behind her shoulders. We love that she let her dress do the talking!

Princess Caroline and Philippe Junot

Now for some ultimate ‘70s boho bride inspo! Princess Caroline of Monaco married playboy Philippe Junot in 1978 and ticked all the boxes with her centre parted, floral updo, which perfectly matched her dress and the feel of the decade. Sadly, the pair divorced two years later, but hey, at least the pictures are dreamy!

Grace Kelly and Prince Rainer

Of course, we couldn’t mention Caroline without mentioning her parents, the iconic Grace Kelly and her husband Prince Rainer of Monaco. Way back in 1956, before Kate Middleton was even a twinkle in her father’s eye, Grace was serving perfect royal style and elegance in a long sleeved, high neck gown as she joined the ranks of the Monaco royal family. A large, swept-back bun was the perfect style for her lace headpiece. A look fit for a queen… and a Hollywood movie star.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip

Of course we couldn’t forget Queenie herself! When Queen Elizabeth married Prince Philip in 1947 it was a huge occasion, even by today’s standards. At the lavish ceremony all eyes were on her as she walked down the aisle in a highly decorative dress and the perfect half-up hairstyle. We can’t wait to see what Meghan does with her hair! Who’s royal style will you be taking inspiration from this wedding season?
